Put the helmet on your head. Wiggle your head from side to side pretty rigorously. If the helmet continues to move in the direction your head WAS going in (before you quickly moved in the opposite direction) the helmet is too loose. Apply this same logic to being in an accident; you don't want your helmet going one direction and your head going in the other, do you?
