I've got a KLX250s that's bone stock atm, and I figured that i'd invest in safety gear before any aftermarket parts that will kill me quicker :P

So basically, I feel like a freaking retard riding in shorts and Tshirts. I'm being exactly what I strive not to be (a god damn douchebag). I AM that ******* on the sportsbike, weaving in and out of traffic in a tanktop, that i'm cussing at from in my cage (except I ride a dualsport ).

And even though i've only owned the bike for a few weeks, i'm sick of it.

At the moment i'm looking at jackets only. It's pretty damn hot here, pretty much all the time (not to mention the humidity...), so i'm looking at textiles only. Can't emphasize how hot it feels, especially considering that I see a tonne of stop and go traffic (stoplights every couple hundred feet). My back turns into a freaking waterfall after 10 minutes of riding with my backpack on.

I'm looking for jackets that look very casual. I don't need an ultimate ammount of protection, since she never really sees more than 40 mph (except for the short freeway stints to change neighborhoods), just something that'll keep my skin away from the pavement when things go from bad to worse.

I want something that I could proudly stroll into class with, still on my shoulders. I know for a fact that if I don't buy something that i'm proud of wearing in public, even if i'm not riding, then it'll never get used.

I'm just wondering if you folks could make any suggestions, or even better, take a photo of yourself wearing your jacket, so I can see how it fits. I swear, these online photos are pretty near useless, and as far as safety gear goes, the cycle shops around here are useless.

Looks good, but a bit too much like armor for my tastes.

I'm looking for something that, if I were to wear in public, wouldn't alert anyone to the fact that I own a motorbike.

Something I could even wear during winter just as a normal everyday jacket (temps get to around 68 ish around here during winter :P)

You have a point about the armour on the Joe Rocket Rio mesh. I wasn't too crazy myself about the back armour look, but hell, for $25??? I can't pass it up considering I don't own a warm weather jacket, and leather will cook you while sitting in traffic. You might check out some of the other close out jackets on their site. Newenough has really good deals from time to time.

This is the jacket I bought, along with the pants. Both have zip out liners and built in armor. And as far as not wanting everyone to know you ride a bike, I'm just the opposite, I like the looks that people give me, especially when I pullup on what they think is a dirt bike. I even had a friend of mine ask me if I was trying to look like Robocop.
