Was at the bike shop in town last night and this older guy gave me some advice....just wondering if any of you guys have heard of such a thing? I was looking at some leather Icon gloves and he told me that he always puts them onand then soaks them in water and works them for about 20 minutes to kind of "form" toyour hands. Apparently he does this with all of his leather gear. Has anybody heard of this? If not, do you do anything to break them in besides just wearing them? Thanks...

 

after the leather as dried from that you also need to condition it with the proper leather oil/ loation/conditioner for the type of leather otherwise it can harden.

the standard break in for basebal gloves also involes soaking them wrapping them around a ball and baking to form them around the ball. works on pretty muhc anything leather as long as you condition it after its dry.

 

my gloves were way to tight i soaked em and wore em most of the day streched them out nicely still a little tight but much better no damage to the leather or looks, i was scared it would hurt or distress em but they still look brand new. not alot of fun wearin wet gloves 4 hours but it did work got that advice here last year otherwise they woulda been useless to me couldnt even make a fist with em on guess i shoulda got xxl.... but then the fingers were to long

 

Ive done that to all my icon gloves, mediums were to long, smalls were to tight, soaked them in hot water while on my hands, worked them a bit then let them dry out. I have yet to put any conditioner on them but they are fine and comfy now.

 

Stay away from the petroeum distillate stuff. You'll end up with a piece of jerky. Check your labels.
