Default Oil leak from water pump

I picked up a basically brand new '09 ER-6n a few weeks ago. Only 30 miles on it!. I got it from a local shop. I noticed as I'm putting in the break in miles (300 on it now) a small oil leak on the bottom right. Did some troubleshooting (Clean, ride, check) and found it is coming from the water pump weep hole.... Not sure if just one of the seals went bad from sitting for so long. Has anyone dealt with this before? Do you think I can just replace the rubber parts or should I do the Mechanical seal as well? Just because the mechanical seal is a press fit and will add some headache for me.

Thanks,
Travis

Hey mate,

I also just purchased er6n 2008 that has 37k km on the clock and was sitting in the garage for 2 years.
On my way to home I noticed oil coming out of the water pump drain.
After some investigation it was clear that this is a common problem for er6n.
Bought all original seals and rubbers (60 euros) and replaced them. No leaks now.
It is fairly easy to replace all parts inside and if you will do it yourself, be careful when taking out the impeller. On my bike it was stuck so it was a bit of pain to take it out without damage.

Yes I did.
I would advice to purchase impeller too. It is fragile material and easy to bent.

Mechanical seal has some blue line that helps sealing and king of gluing to the housing.
Be careful when you punch it in the place, it is also easy to bend.
Before puting it in place, make sure you clean that hole nicely and carefuly. You can use some very fine water based sand paper.
