Default Would a 1990 zx-10r be a good idea?

I am a beginning rider. and i was wondering if a 1990 zx10r would be a good bike for me to get. it only has about 137 hp, alot less than the new 1000's. and almost the same as the new 600s and 750s. so please i need some feed back asap. the bike i'm looking at is only $2500 a pretty good price. tell me what you think.

bad idea. 137 hp is alot more than the new 600s. the only one that comes close is the 636 which is close to 120. and that 10 has more torque to boot. its not a good idea to start on a 05 600 cc sport bike. and that bike is the equivalent to a 750. which deffinatly isnt a good idea for a beginner. for the money you can find a better 600. plus insurance. it may be 15 years old but its still a litre sportsbike.

Well, I'm new to this board, and I'm thinking about buying a 1989 ZX10. I'm happy with the power of this bike, but I'd like more aggressive/modern styling. Can I just bolt on fairings from another, newer bike? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

man, between the weight and the torque, I would not recommend this ride as your first ride. Just as an example, I hopped onto an early Ninja 900 after getting off of my hog. I was seriously impressed and even bought a 1988 ninja 750. I have no clues in your experience but you would still have your hands full even with that older ride. If you are Kawi only, I would suggest the EX500 or the earlier Ninja 600's maybe even the Ninja 750's. They were all fun rides and bullet proof.

i have to side with dragone#19 i have a 87 zx10 with a lot of motor work done but even when it was stock is was a pain in the *** ho hold on to the power to weight just isnt right in my opinion the bike is to fast for the weight if you are a new rider but if you can handel it it can be a lot of fun by the way they are fun to do tricks on i mean there is nothing like doing 180 kms per hour and lifting it stright up on one
