Default 01 vulcan 800 cam noise?

I am at a road block. My bike has just started developing a front end noise. I had a professional mech look at the valve spacers and believes that they are fine. I am hearing a high pitch tapping noise off and on while driving at normal speed. It sound like the noise from the can chain as it gets less apparent as the bike is rev higher. The bike has only 29,000km and runs perfect. The noise seems to be coming from the right lower side where the cam chains are. Is there any way to check the cam chain adjusters and chain to see if they are in spec? I have the clymer manual and this seems like a larger job that what I am capable of.

Welcome to the forums....

That can be a decently labor intensive job. 18,000 miles on her, it is possible it is the tensioner. In order to check it, it does need to be disassembled.[:@]

If you are into it that far, I would go ahead and change the tensioner while you are there.. JMO tho...

Enjoy your stay. Good luck!!
