Default Spark Plug Replacement

Has anybody replaced their plugs with the hotter plug listed in the owners manual.
The standard plug is DR9EA the hotter plug is DR8EA. The manual states for low speed or quicker warmups use the hotter plug and mornings in new england are getting cooler. The plug cross references to iridium IX24 or a splitfire SF416C. Anyone tried the alternate plug? Again manual says the alternate plug will damage the engine at high speeds. Do they mean over 65 or higher or do they mean regular highway driving? Lots of Questions and I plan on riding until the snow flies or the road gets iced over.
