Default 6 Speed Tranny??

Hello all,

I am new here, and am not sure if this has been discussed before, but I own a 2003 Vulcan Classic 1600 and I would really love to have a gear number 6 for when I cruise above 65mph. Anyone done that or know of any good ideas here?

It would be much more cost efficient to use taller gearing ratios. Your Vulcan uses a shaft drive doesn't it? Try looking for a company that makes a taller final drive ratio if one exists.

Does a taller gear ratio mess with the power band?

It gives the engine more gearing to climb. So yes, it would reduce the amount of available torque tothe wheel. But considering your Vulcan has gobs of low end torque, you don't have much to worry about.
