I do have one thign that I haven't figured out yet.. where do you put your shoes?
I figured I could just wear gear over my clothes, but if I'm going somewhere and wearing my boots to ride, what do you normally do with shoes? Do you just wear your boots everywhere or what?

If I start out in boots, I stay in boots. Sometimes I wears sneaks, but 9x out of 10, I have on boots. If you need to change shoes, then you might invest in a saddle bag to put them in once you get to your destination. You should go into the bike shops and try on different boots to find one that is comfortable enough to wear all day. There was a thread a few months ago about boots and one of the girls actually mentioned a really comfortable pair for all day wear, but unfortunately, I can't remember who said it or what boot it was. Any gear you buy though, should be tried on 1st, to be sure it will be comfy.

What everyone is saying is completely true. Let them know you are trying to learn about safety, but also make sure you follow everything you learned. Do not try to show off and ride way over your head. So just ride safe, and enjoy every minute.

Well since I'm convincing him about safety.. what leathers does everyone suggest? I was looking at the Teknic chicane 2 pc suit, but today I noticed it says nothing about body armor for shoulders/etc.. just dual density foam. Seems like I would want some sort of plastic armor in there. Heard good things about Joe Rocket.. the GPX isn't quite as colorful as I would have liked but if it will save my *** I could care less.
