Default just getting into the sport/ gears & apparel

hi i'm just beginning to enter into the field of bike riding.
i'm very excited. hopefully this is not a repeated post..

however i'm getting word from many that it would be smart to gear up first before I get on any bike
i'm going for a sport bike and i plan on doing easy in town riding mostly over summer here in soCal weather
what is the best place to purchase gears (jacket, pants, gloves, helmet?) (textile/mesh material)
perferably a fast and friendly site/store that has good reviews/customer service and
since i'm new, cost is an issue
so any easy beginning rider and economic Brands suggestions? would help
Thanks a bunch!

hmmmm, well theres cycle parts west on beach blvd in stanton. great selection of street gear and fairly desent employees. cycle gear in anaheim on harbor, but geared more towards dirt. as far as in irvine i dont recall a good place that sells street gear, mabey more towards deep south orange county youll find a few spots. if you knew what you wanted down to the size there allways the innernet where youll get the best deals ever. (e bay) hurry up and get a bike allready [sm=icon_rock.gif]

Glad to here you are looking for gear, so many do not.

Best is leather, cost more and is hotter than textile or mesh.

I wear Joe Rocket perforated leather and it has great airflow, feels good even in 90+ temp as long as I am moving. At a stop I am cooking.

Textile and Mesh are 1,000,000.00% better than jeans and a shirt, have fantastic airflow and offer good protection.

Do not forget boots, at least a good pair of leather over the ankle work boots will do, tennis shoes just make me cringe every time I see them on a rider. Of course gloves too, leather.

Internet will get you the best price but like evil said you need to know what and what size, so shop around town and try it on, get brand and size and then smurf for the best price.

Cost is a factor so get what you can afford as far as brand, leather or textile. Better to get a full textile outfit with boots and gloves then just a kick a$$ leather jacket. You will find yourself progressing in gear the same as you will progress in your bikes as you go along.

Ride safe and welcome to the two wheel life.

Welcome to the world of two wheels and KF! As far as I'm concerned notstock and evil gave you the best answers about gear. You should never get on the bike without your gear, that is if you value your skin etc.

Ride safe and stay within your limits - you'll do fine!
