Where too start... Mods

Your welcome RM.. Now you might notice on that same web page is Bills' TM34 pumper carb - specially setup to be a direct "bolt on" replacement for yours.
So here's the deal: If you are going to end up with totally max'd out performance, you have to choose the parts you put on very carefully. A full exhaust works with all other mods, that pumper carb works with all other mods, bolt in WebCams #101 performance camshafts should work with all other mods - then, if you still want more, all the above mods will give a 351 kit Roid Rage !

It's been said before, but if I had it to do over again I would have bought a different bike.
The KLX does respond to mods very well, but if you go the 351/pipe/TM-36 route you're into it for about $1300 If you go all the way, cams porting etc your're into it for over $2500. If you add suspension you're into it for $3500 over the cost of the basic KLX.
At that point you could have bought a good used KTM for the same money. That bike would be a way better woods weapon than even the most built KLX.
My impression is you're starting with the 09+ KLX, which has less travel and is heavier than the 06-07 bike, which was no lightweight either.
I only offer this advice as you have some sort of investment plan.

You're right.
Except I didn't buy this bike, my dad did. It's his bike that I use a lot, and do all the maintenance for.
I can either mod this bike to the max, or just simply buy my own bike. My family just bought property in Michigan and I am going to build a motorcross track. I am definitely going to be getting a fz-07 in the next year so I might just get a Ktm dirt bike or a different dual sport. My auto cam just went on this bike and cost me 42$.

There are a ton of great European dirt bikes that come with open titles that you can register for the street. There's a simple bolt on kit and you're good to go. They really are race bikes with lights.
Given the versatility of a plated bike and the power to weight and suspension setup of these, to me, there's no other choice.
I'm mostly too lazy to sell my KLX and it's working pretty good for me. Mine is the 06-07 longer travel/slightly lighter version too. So, mindful of my retirement savings I keep riding it.

I'll be throwing money at my KLX but to mod it for my own uses - so Tubliss puncture-resistant system, a Scott's steering damper, some panniers and luggage rack, hand, engine, and everything else guards, a small windscreen, a 12V cig' socket and a larger fuel tank.
Then I'm off on adventures!
