Where too start... Mods
 

My KLX250s 2010 has about 4k miles on it. Its all stock except the pro taper handle bars that I put on. I not greatly mechanically inclined but I do do my research to an extent on YouTube and manuals etc... I want to go the whole yard on this bike and mod it to an extent. Money isn't really too concerning since Im 16, have a good job, and have nothing to spend my money on. I just don't know where to start. I would love to do a big bore 351 on it but don't know if that should be my first mod since the rest is stock and I don't know how hard it would be to do. Any input would be great.

You could invest the money now in an IRA and be a millionaire when you retire. This is the best advice you will get.

I would do KLXster's carb mods to start with. They're easy and cheap.

Give me your riding elevations and whether you're gonna go with full exhaust system or just a slipon and I'll give you the "recipe" for lidless running..

Full exhaust is gonna b bout $475 - $500 ---- You get biggy power to redline.
"Slipon only" is a more difficult choice, it can be $150 - $200 ----- You get better midrange and top end power from 5k - 9k, after which, power drops off..

LOL, you can't expect any kind of "normal" teen to look 50 years ahead - You certainly CAN expect us old farts to lament the 50 years past..lol

I don't know what that instrument would be worth today but the CT70 began a lifelong passion..

taxonomy gave you some good advice start small and learn a little as you go. Changing carb jetting isn't that hard to do and seeing as you have to take half the bike apart to get to the carburetor. You'll have lot more experience when you finish. That'll make next time easier and there will be a next time. Have fun with it ask questions lots of good information here and good people willing to share it.

I am serious about the investing, buy the way. Put a little away now into an IRA and you'll be rich later on.

Lol I actually asked my dad about investing in IRA and he said he has already been on it a year ago. He works in nursing and said the old people is where the money's at.
