How fast?

mine is a 2014 efi bike, totally stock including tires and gearing. in 5th gear I had it up to 87 mph several times and in 6th gear its a bit slower, around 85 mph. These figures are with a topcase installed.
Recently I had it serviced and they hooked the bike up to a laptop. Not sure what they did. Could see that many different windows popped up with numbers. Not sure they changed anything. However, I felt the bike is a bit more powerful after 6000 rpms. Need to check top speed again

Key point to remember. The peak HP is around 8600 rpm, anything above that is pure ability to over rev. Another point from there, peak torque is at 7100 rpm. The reason why head winds hold the bike back after the peak is reached, it is getting top speed well beyond the actual power peaks.
If you take advantage of the numbers, the higher gearing (lower ratios) will use that 7100 rpm range achieving a higher speed backed with the torque.
But there will be a limit to what that manly 13.5 ft-lb of pure muscle can do for you... Makes me think of Jim Croce singing "You don't spit into the wind".

my 2014 modded
One day with wind on my side on a downhill I hit 106. On good days with wind I can always reach 103 04 on a downhill. Doesn't feel safe and prob. Never doing it again. I put my front wheel down the other day in 4th gear doing a wheelie and the bike tank slapper and sent me off. No more high speeds for me

Mine gets over 90 pretty quickly with stock cogs.. Hey, Snappster, there is no actual evidence that the MCM hurts top end over standard. It may actually enhance top end over standard timing due to the increase in overlap.. Also Marcelinos' analysis of standard timings was that it doesn't produce peak HP within our rev range - that it is actually timed to peak above our rev-limiter.. The DynoJet jetting specialist was sure my lean spike at 8500 rpm(using the full FMF system) was the MCM's increased overlap wanting more fuel so as to make more power..

Then I will fall back on your "too lean" with DJ136-4N comment to me a while back. I put the DJ140 in with needle 3N the other day. Bike feels better. Will have to do another WOT run in the tunnel soon to see if my top speed goes up. Still couldn't keep up with the drz400sm guys today until we hit the dirt then it was game on. Not much advantage with more power if we all have road slicks.

My 2007 KLX has a dynojet kit, two brothers exhaust, and K&N intake with the snorkel off, and before I did my sprocket mod and still had the stock 14T/42T setup, I hit 80 and still had plenty of RPMs left to go, but on these bikes with even the shinko 244's I have on mine, 80 was too fast! They are too light and high center of gravity, it was sketchy! And when I touched the brakes as I was coming up on a car, it started to feel like it was about to go into the death wobble, not a good feeling. Long story short, I think 65 is about all I want to do on the bike (and now that I have 13T/45T sprocket mod, 65 is about 7,000 RPMs, so that's plenty).
