Cylinder Head Cover Removal

Cylinder Head Cover Removal
From page 5-15 of the Service Manual: Cylinder Head Cover Removal
•
Remove: Fuel Tank (see Fuel Tank Removal in the Fuel System chapter) Vacuum Switch Valve (see Vacuum Switch Valve Removal)
Heat Guard [A]
Cylinder Head Cover Bolts [B]
•
Has anyone had to remove the Vacuum Switch Valve in order to remove the Cylinder Head (Valve) Cover?
I didn't, but then I didn't use the Service Manual for guidance.

You don't have to remove the vaccum switch valve to remove the cylinder head. You just need to disconnect it from where it connects to the head (right above the exhaust port). As stated above, its part of the smog system, so unless you live in CA its probably been removed already.

I did buy the bike used. Originally titled in Alabama. It only had 550 miles on it, and I doubt the original owner removed it. Maybe it didn't come with the air valve control valve?
