Can you send me a picture of your brake route by the wheel and a picture of your bars. Right now the bars are about 3 inches from me standing up with a little bend in my knee.

DOes the riser affect on road feel at all or is that something just have to get used to? Should i go with 2" or just get the 3.5" I do more on road than off road.

if I were your height I would definitely go with the 3.5" and as high bars as you can find. Mine just fits me & I'm only 6'. I would like it a little higher but not 1.5" hence trying a block riser first. Got to fit my longer brake line before I go there though.

Is this safe to do this, move the brake line up in the vise? I can't see where it would hurt and I didn't go crazy on tightening.

I think I know what you're saying. You have simply pulled the slack out of the back of the brake line, I just looked at my 09 and there's probably an inch or so to be had with some rearranging. As long as it isn't getting excessive strain at the banjo, once it is clamped it is held in place and supposed to not move, so you're right, it shouldn't hurt a thing.
