This answer will vary from person to person. It took me quit a few attemps. I was afraid of crashing my bike.(to much money invested in it) Other people who dont have that fear will pick it up very fast. start out slow is the only advice i can offer. I have pretty much given up on the whole wheelie thing. It was fun, but i do enjoy the twisties a whole lot more that stunting.

What stage are you at?

Ist gear is pretty wicked. Real easy to loop it. I would really take it easy. Clutching it up in 2nd is real smooth. Good luck, be safe.

It will come up with a power wheelie at higher rpms, but once i learned to clutch it up i rarely power wheelied. I mean, you have so much more control.(as much as possible anyway) I could pull it up in first before the wheel even got on full rotation. Almost a dead stop. Second gear wheelies came up smooth at about 30mph to 40mph. It felt good to me anyway. I feel that clutching it up is easier and a lil safer.

LOL no not really. I did the old gravity wheelie. (dip in road) I just goosed the throttle over the crest and it came up. I really did quit the wheelie thing. I enjoy the twisties. The risk with the wheelies just isnt worth it to meanymore. I wasnt a stunter by any stretch, but i had my share. I get a much bigger rush hitting a 25mph turn @ 80 +. Ahhhh its a rush just thinking about it. 056r and just did it today. 3 hours on a 42 degree day. My longest ride in 4.5 months. Damn that felt good. Chicken stripes are all but gone now. LOL

Sorry for jacking this thread

ccard, know your ride and be safe while learning. You will know when the clutch play, traction, balance, etc comes into play. Baby steps
