+1^ on this event. The Airborne runways were originally part of the Air Force, back in the 40-50's. It was a glider base, as well. Legend has it, that the James Bond style---fork on the airplane nose which catches the tether of a small weather-style balloon---remote rescue, was developed here at Wilmington. I remember seeing the Fairchild "boxcars" and the c-130's flying over the house as a little kid. This is the longest, (now; non-military) privately held runway in the United States. When I worked at ABX-DHL, I LOVED seeing the 747's fly in and out during the night. (THe rest of the job kinda sucked..) Ha!!
If you live within driving distance, the event is worth the price of admission. If you're going to attend, post up! I'll make SURE you have a good time! Thanks for the post, Mike! I hope to meet up and see the ZX12 project!!

You're welcome Jeff. Unfortunately I won't be there this weekend. I'm working on my 12 and I get distracted too easily without spending the weekend smelling race gas. I'm staying at home working on the beast until it's done. My current mantra is "work, sleep,MOTORCYCLE!!!"
