Mystery riders
OK, this one is from the archives. Who can name these riders? This pic was taken moments before rider 2 ran into rider 1 and both went down. Rider 2 went on to several successful seasons with (Vance & Hines) Yamaha. Rider 1 later became AMA Superbike Champion, with Muzzy, and had subsequent brief rides with Harley Davidson and Ducati.

Hint #1: Rider 1 (IMHO) is the guy who raced, developed, and made the ZX7R into the refined "riding-on-rails" bike of the mid-90's, before the competitors (Suzuki) caught up with development of the GSXR. I've met and talked with rider 1. During his days with Muzzy, he RULED Daytona on the 7. Absolutely untouchable and amazing to watch.

Congrats, Hoe!! Yes, that's "Mr. Daytona" Scott Russell.
Rider #2 is not Eddie, though.
Hint: Rider #2 won the championship that year, with Scott coming in 2nd. #2 is from Louisiana, and was with Ferracci Ducati before Doug Polen, because "Doug had a sponsor already and I didn't." #2 preferred DOT tires. #2 was an incredibly aggressive rider who preferred his (Yamaha) bike to be "loose" because it made him work harder. He contributed greatly to the Yamaha OWO1 development. He says it "broke his heart" when Yamaha didn't re-sign him, but that for whatever reason, it just "wasn't working out" with Terry (Vance.) I spoke with him at Mid-Ohio when his teammate was Colin Edwards Jr. and loved his slow, Southern drawl. On the track, however, he was a force to be reckoned with.
