BigRig has a similar setup where he uses his blowup doll to cushion the impact.

yeh, I see more danger in the airbag than not. My opinion though.

The "rider" in the test didnt try to avoid the crash, I wonder if it would still have positive results ifyou tried to turn.

You need an airbag suite that would envelope the rider if there was an impact or if the rider is thrown form the bike.

Bigrigs air bag keeps having some kind of circuit failure do to fluid problems

I guess you could have an inflatable riding suit but that would get heavy and you would look like a really fat power ranger.
