sandin dis beeitch..lol
sanded to i think 800 or 1000 grit at this time after DAYS of sanding.. this thing was uber grimey.. i'll get pics up of how nasty this thing was..
2000 grit after a few more hours of working up to it.. can't really jump alot of grit sizes on this stuff if you want it to actually look good..
right side is still at 2000 grit.. left is polished with a sisal wheel and white rouge. got that stuff from sears.
cast pice is still sanded, frame is polished..

with polishing, you can D/A this stuff down to get to the metal if it's painted. you can usually use 220 or 400 grit dry.
i personally uses 80 on some spots, as the douchebag who originally did the (chitty) polish job left D/A swirls in the metal.. he didn't sand it down enough and took the lazy way out.
you HAVE to hand sand it eventually.
once i was satisfied i got all the scrapes and nasties out, i started workin on the 220 hand sanding, creating a uniform "grain" along the lenth of the frame. went to 400, then started spraying it and wet sanding it to keep the sandpaper from loading so fast.
the very worst part was the cast uprights on the frame holding the pegmounts and swingarm. once i go the grain going vertically with 220, i worked it the other way with 400.. i moved on to 600 and up when i didn't see ANY vertical scratches.. i knew i was down into the metal then..
once i got the cast parts to 600, i started going across the whole thing, working it uniformily in one direction and one step in grit at a time, from 600, to 800, 1000, 1200 1500 and finally 2000 grit.. wet sanding the whole time. using a squirt bottle and clean water and a 5 gal bucket to kinda clean off the sandpaper.. just dipped it in there and shook it around to get the crap out of the sandpaper..
so, theres a lil story on whats up with my bike, and with any luck, it'll be sexy when i'm done

man.. A.D.D is a *****.. it took alot of time, mainly cuz i'd get busy, then go out an do wheelies for like 2 hours.. lol
this was over about 2 weeks, but not constantly working.. i'd say i have 20 or so hours in it, minus the stunt sessions. probably 35 hours with wheelie time!!!! LOL
