Sorry for the noobie question but what's the difference in frame design or body plastics that the 09+ tank won't fit an 07?

 

I'm pretty sure that it is just the plastics that don't match up, but there could be other dissimularities. Seat design and positioning might be another factor.

 

Good question. I know some folks have successfully installed an 07 aftermarket tank on the 09+ bikes, the only issue is a gap where the side plastics meet the tank. It probably would fit, but there would be issues with the shrouds and maybe seat. No guarantees, though

 

Been thinking about the wheels for some time.
Like you said shipping would suck, but pick-up wouldn't be bad if you were close.
