My sister works for wireless in Atlanta. She sent it to me with a tone of dread and I can't blame her. My favorite parts were: Verizon will pay $5.9 billion for Alltel’s equity and assume $22 billion in debt in a deal that comesless than a yearafter the private equity firms closed their purchase of Alltel. That debt comes on top of Verizon’s already substantial debt load of $37 billion.

I know first hand what unmanagable debt can do to a telecom company. I was working at Allegiance Telecom when they went bankrupt and were bought out by XO. What a huge pain in the @ss. What I hate most about mergers and acquisitions like this is the fact that so many 'indians' lose their jobs and have very little, if any cushion to fall back on, while the 'chiefs' all have golden parachutes and seem to move right on to the next company to run into the ground. Big changes are needed.

You honestly think the FCC understands what CDMA is without Googling it?

Wow that's the most [:@]I've seen in a single post, and I should know because I am the king of smileys.[8D] Sorry about the news man, I'm a Verizon customer for 5 years now and I have not had a single bad experience with them. But then again I don't pay for my Verizon Blackberry or even have to deal with them, although my wife has a Verizon account, but there again no problems in 6+ years. Don't hate monopolies, don't fight it, one day we will all be speaking Chinese or Japanese and paying our PUD bills overseas. And in the infamous words of the Deej.....I'm just saying.
