some guys just don't listen...
my room mate got into bikes about a year ago. actually i'm the one who got him turn on to it. well his first bike was an 04 F4I, brand new. i also told him to gear up and ride safe. just like i do here. well seven months after getting the bike, he went out on a hot day without his gear. he looped his bike and flipped it three times. and all he was wearing was his helmet jeans and wife beaters. well you could imagine road rash on 40% of his body. next bike a day later 05 gsxr 600. 1 month laters a lady cut him off and he t-boned her. at least he was wearing his gear. but the bike was a total lose. so two months later he gets a 05 636. still riding from time to time not wearing his gear.. and i told him that the next time he goes down he's gonna wish he wore his gear. well that day came. three days ago he's dumps his bike. he was following his girlfriend down a rode he's never been through before. he gets bored following her and passes her, sees a turn coming up fast. he's doing 85 at this point. he didn't have enough road to brake and he don't have enough room to change his line cause a car was coming. so he leans the bike into the turn and lowsides off the bike. the bike ends up going into a bob wire fence onto a dirt road. and his girlfriend almost gets into an accident because she sees him going down. well glad to say he got very lucky and was able to walk away from the whole thing. and no one else got hurt. the bike is still rideable, just alot of the body work has to be replaced. well all the body work need to be replaced. and as you can guess he was not wearing his gear. i don't know how many more times a guy can get that lucky. but i hope this time he listens to me are our freinds to gear up and ride safe. if not give up riding all together. i would rather see him in a car then in something else...
Ouch!
Darwin's out to get your friend MK. Say did I just see a jump from a 600 to a 636? How weird is that, when he can't keep two wheels on the ground on a 600 then go up a few notches higher to a 636.

Well, MK, I hate to say it but it sounds liek your roommate is lacking in the brains department. How many times will it take for him to realize that he can't ride the way he does and be safe. He's gonna end up hurting himself REALLY bad or hurting someone else. Why doesn't he take his seemingly non ending source of funds and invest in an MSF class and the proper riding gear? I say he should stay off 2 wheels and stick to 4. At least theres more covering him.
smurfette, i hear ya. we've told him countless times to gear up. he's still in the show off mode. so theres no telling him anything. i just hope he changes soon.... just to give you any idea of his age... (24). i think that says it all.....
Well, I'm sure age is playing a big part of it. It sounds like he will learn, but it will be a hard lesson to learn. Hopefully he will see the error of his ways before he has a really bad accident. Wish ya luck with him buddy, souinds like you are baby sitting an adult child.
