gs, if you leave the rear on the stand it doesnt sway as bad, but even with that, if at all possible, try to tie it off so it dont sway.

I use the rafters myself when removing the front wheel. I really want a front and rear stand, but other things must come first.

exactly, keep the rear stand in place and lift the front of the ride with the straps. Sway is not bad, but is still present when you are dropping the engine or applyingany force to the fasteners.

The part I hate most about lifting the front with straps is letting the bike back down! It helps with a floor jack. (at least on my 750) but it can be unnerving.

You must be using ratcheting straps then mark. You talking about the all of a sudden drop? Use normal pinch straps.

i guess another good tip would be to break all the bolts loose before you lift it, that way your not wrenching with it in the air.
