The chain shaking ghost ***** came from the fact that he pops up out of nowhere, makes some noise, and then disappears.

The chain shaking was a referrence to the Ghost of Marley from the christmas carol. When he visited Scrooge, he was shaking his chains to make noise. The way Shinobi operates, I thought it was oddly fitting.
