I have to find some stuff for this. Sold the mini bikes, got my money back from mine. I didn't want another project with needing to fix the Celica. So I got this. It runs, isn't great, needs some work, but was only $800 for this '83 Nighthawk CB550:

It was already fubar when I got it:

Got bored, painted the bike. The last guy or one before must have used a grinder on parts of it. Makes the "You Wish It Was Made In China" stuff look good. Took a Scotch Brite to it, cleaned the firearm bluing off and used flat black header paint on the exhaust. Flat black paint on some other parts. The guy I bought it from had it for a month. He got back from Iraq and Afghanistan so I thought I'd do sort of a tribute. Going to stencil paint a big white USArmy star with the broken circle on the tank and spare helmet. I'll add some lettering in too, something like: 1Δ—X—SV—10 Yes, armored division.

Seat cover and mirrors ordered, need a fender or something that will work for the time being, new tank and maybe handle bars at some point. I might see about a cheap/free parts bike. Also want to fix the issue where the right signal dims the headlight and the left signal goes on, no problem with the other direction. I might go with a different headlight. Round or twin round lights. Maybe some accents. If anyone has a good, cheap idea for the dents, let me know.

Forgot to say I went a different route with the bike:

Made the fender from scratch with a piece of sheet metal and two stainless strips.

Working out at the gym Monday. My buddy goes almost every day after work.

Hey Ben, tell me about that bike, specifically the gas tank, I'm intrigued.

Ya, one of the previous owners dented it because of the handle bars. I can replace the tank and bars for about $200, or just leave it. The bars will lock as it is now, not that I ever do. Bought it for $900, have a couple hundred in it. Need to fix the speedo now. I'm just using it for gas mileage. It was also fun returning the UHaul. I just drove the bike in, and rode back out when I got there.
