Worlock> That is the B-52 which crashed at Fairchild AFB while practicing for exhibition in 1994. It was previously stationed at KI Sawyer, and I met the pilot a few years earlier - Bud Holland.
He routinely pushed his B-52 clear to its ragged edge, and in this case - over it. While lambasted after the event which lead to all 4 crewmembers deaths, prior to that he was hailed as one of the gutsiest Buff pilots ever to have flown, and to this day remains the only pilot to have taken a 52 into a vertical climb in excess of 80 degrees - well out of safety spec and design tolerances - and nearly straight-up in orientation. This move was captured on videotape as it happened during an air show in 93, and absolutely stunned the aviation world, as by all intents - should not have been possible by this aircraft.
