On a related economy note, Gov Gregoire stated last night that across the board all state agencies will have to cut spending by 20%. We have in the past 15 years had to cut by 5% or even 10%, but 20% is going to kill us. The university of Washington's Biennial (that means two year) budget is 835 million. So that would translate into a 167 million dollar loss over the next 2 years. That's a little unsettling to say the least. I don't know where we fit into the big picture being way out here as a stand alone research and education center. I hope even if they close the doors and mothball the place I will still have a job protecting the building and keeping it from falling apart.
