latest news said it was an AK-47

seriously who gives a 19 year old an ak-47 for unsupervised target practice, let alone one on anti-dipressants.

So if you have mental problems you can't get a pilot's license, but you can buy assault weapons[&:]

Is it bad that my first thought was, "Too bad noone in the mall was carrying"
Cue carriers to post pics of their babies

kid didn't buy it - he borrowed it from his step-dad with permission saying he and some buddies were going target shooting.

problem with the darwin awards is that usually the people that make the dumbest mistakes are not the ones that suffer

he wanted to be famous... thats the dumbest thing i've ever heard.

the columbine kids were disturbed from being teased and not taking it well for years. still not an excuse but it actually makes sense.

this..

this makes no sense.
Same reason why Abraham Lincoln and JFK were assassinated.

ummm, no because Lee Harvey Oswaldwanted to get his name in the paper, and had already had a failed attempt to assassinate a local official in Louisiana before the set his sights on the big score. If unpopular ideology was all it took to get bullets coming at you, bush would have took a couple by now. Conspiracy nuts need to shut the hell up and get a damn job. Next person who says 9-11 was planned and that it was missles not hundreds of innocent people strapped to thousands of pounds of jet fuel needs a punch in the face.

Not at all - that was my first thought. I had to subdue someone at gunpoint while off-duty in plain clothes some years back in the Circle City Mall in Indy... he was taking some teen-ager to task with a heavy plastic pipe. A legally armed community is a polite community.
