Oil

RE: Oil
At around 100 miles you should change the factory oil. There will be a lot of metallic flakes and other gunk from the engine break-in, and needs to get out of the engine. After that, I changed mine again at the 600 mile service. Then, every 3000 miles after.

RE: Oil
i've read somethings where people swear pure synthetic will cause clutch problems. what do you guys think? personally love running full synth on cars but not in transmissions due to it causing problems with some of the synchros.
and since these are oil bathed clutches i don't really want to ruin a clutch by using the wrong oil.
when i got the bike i got it up to heat and drained the old black oil (who knows how old it was) and replaced the filter filling it back up with some nice fresh castrol 10w40
any problems with royal purple or amsoil ruining clutches?

RE: Oil
I noticed a differance when I changed to syn . Cooler running engine and the trans shifted smoother .I tried Amsoil but hated it .Put Kawi petro back in it ,run it for a while and the last change I put Mobil 1 in it ( 300 miles ago )

RE: Oil
i'd more than happily run royal purple in there and change it every 3000 if i new it wasn't going to have an adverse affect on the clutch. but when it comes down to it i guess there is really only one way to know for sure.
