western star is owned by frieghtliner.
I should remember that.. I use to drive a century class Freight Shaker. POS that thing was. Anyway every time it broke down, had to be towed to Freight Shaker's dealership, and they have all the makes posted of what they owned. Western Star, FS, can't remember the others. But it was 6 or 7....

To clarify... The freight shaker was good, just that the Detroit POS motor in it was, under powered, clanky, smoky, and not reliable.[:@]
I don't think its the detroit, i think its the maintance/milage on the motor. They are only underpowered b/c the company chooses them to be. turn them up and they will run. But I like my cat better.

Very true..... It was a Dick Simon truck... The motor was detuned to 460 horse, and 1690 ft lbs of torque.... Oil changes every 15,000 miles... It was just small things. The injectors went out twice. The fuel hose that runs along the block on the left hand side rubbed a hole in it, and I dumped 100+ gallons of very expensive diesel all over the hiway!! lol

My last truck, the international with the Cummins. 570 horse and 1900 ft lbs of torque with the rockcrusher 10 under.. And it will out pull and outrun my dad's 550 cat in his Pete w/ a 13.. ... He hates that. lol lol

But Dads Pete, has been completely trouble free, He bought the truck 2 years ago, and has never had a problem with the motor. Had an Cab airbag pop, and that's it...

my pete had a 600 cat, long nose 379. I ran flatbed for TMC. the "special division" trucks were bumped from 475 to 600. all our trucks had a 13 tranny. that truck would run....to 70 mph

i always wondered why injectors made such a huge difference in trucks, then i found out how a desiel engine works and it all makes since now.

Yep, exactly....

I remeber one night , I was cranking along close to that triple digit number, when two large cars blew my doors off. I jumped on the radio and asked to close up the back door. They said sure, if I could keep up... I could not catch up. I don't know how fast those boys were runnin, but I knew how fast I was!! lol

Those two pete's had summin done too 'em.....
