hey i have a 99 kx 250 and the gears are a little stiff...........!!!=[
it doesnt have a clutch but i just bought 1 and i just got it in today and i had to get a new clutch cable so i have to install all this now i got this problem... any idea why it jus all of sudden is kinda stiff it will gear from 1 to 2 and thats about it!

 

I think its better to put some grease on the gear.It will make it soft.Just try it.It will help you out.

 

Not sure on your ride, I keep it on the streets but maybe I can help. You might be having trouble with your syncro's, try pulling in the clutch and apply light pressure to the shifter while varying the RPM. If you can get the engine RPM to match up with the wheels you should be able to get into a higher gear even without the syncs. If that works then you are going to need to tear into your gearbox to fix it.

Otherwise check your basics: cable length, adjustment, and lubrication could keep the clutch from engaging so make sure your clutch is actually working and that the shifter is mounted and adjusted properly.
