Default Inconvenient?

How many of you ride sport bikes as your primary vehicle (weather permitting)? Is it a hassle to go places on your bike, assuming you wear full leathers? Do you wear the leathers wherever you go or do you change out of them once you get there?

I want to get a bike and use it as my primary vehicle this summer, for the gas mileage and, well.. the cool factor of them. But I'm thinking if I drove to the mall or whatever that I'd be pretty uncomfortable and look rediculous in leather riding pants. The textiles are out; even though they probably look better they don't offer as much protection, I wouldn't feel as safe in them.

Well, if your going to work, just bring a change of clothes. If your going to the mall, either just wear the leather, who cares what you look like in the mall. They'll see the helmet in your hand anyways, so they will realize why the heavy gear. But if you don't feel like wearing the leather then just wear jeans on the bike. I know it's not the proper gear, but you have to think about it for yourself.

Jeans->look normal in mall
Leather->be safe

My choice, I don't care what others think about what I'm wearing. The mall is A/C'd anyways

You make a good point. I didn't even think about the helmet. I suppose I could just lock the helmet to the bike though? Or is it too easy to get it stolen that way. I guess I'll just have to pick and choose where I can ride the motorcycle too. I mean I wouldn't want to show up to dinner with friends at a nice restaurant in full leathers...

Another place I was thinkin about was clubs.. guess I'll have to take a car there too.

Yeah.. definitely won't wear jeans. It's either full leathers or.. take the car.

Just get a POS car and a bumper sticker that says "My other car is a sportbike".... Then you'll be cool no matter where you go.

j/k... Got to respect you for making the decision to use full gear... and like everyone else said, if you're wearing gear, people won't look at you funny. Now, if you're wandering around the mall wearing kneepucks... well... hrm... you might get a laugh or two.

When I ride my bike places, I usually lock my helmet and gloves to my bike and wear my gear. I have an icon jacket and icon boots. I don't even think about what I look like. Hopefully people will know that based on the gear I'm wearing I rode in on a bike.

Looking at those Icon pants.. they don't really meet my safety standards. They basically look like reinforced jeans. Denim = not good enough.
