Congrats NS on the solution. For some reason, thought you had already known about the tensioner issues.

Timing and a worn tensioner was causing it. After setting the timing and then reinstalling the tensioner it would not create enough tension on the timing chain to keep it right, so as soon as you turned the crank it would slip 1 tooth on the intake. [:'(] New tensioner and the timing is good, pretty much just my inexperience but I am learning.
At least it's solved now. I'm glad it actually turned out to be something simple. Someone in the KLX section said that in many cases when there is excessive noise from the engine / cam area of our bike that comes and goes it is because the chain is stretching a bit but not quite far enough for the tensioner to ratchet up another notch. Their solution is to loosen the tensioner ever so slightly, just enough until you hear it ratchet one click, then tighten it back up. I'd be a little leary of that because getting that chain too tight could come back to haunt you later, but it makes sense.

a triumph style light rack in the front, no fairing, no speed o just a tac and all the wiring hidden. your warning lights intergrated into the chopper light housing. i can go all out on that thing.
