Is this the general consensus?
So if you are out riding your bud's bike and no matter WHAT it is you drop it and you trade your's for his Till you buy him HIS new bike? That's our unspoken rule here in the great Ny ........just wondering what you guys think?

I'd say if they let you ride it, it's their fault. I let my friend sit on my bike just so he knew if he could touch the ground (because he is thinking of buying either the same bike or the ninja 500). Even then I was a bit nervous.

general rule here. dont ride other peoples bikes. if you do, you assume full responsibility for it. you break you buy. as my general rule, i do not let people ride my bike. i have ridden my friends bikes because they swear there new gadgets are cool and added an extra 400hp i just had to try it. but i would never ever ever ask to ride another persons bike.

RE: Is this the general consensus?
Shortly after I passed the MSF and bought my bike new, a buddy of mine that went to the same course asked if we wanted to swap bikes. I was still breaking mine in.... his was a used bike. I said no... well, actually I just avoided it and changed the subject, but in the end it was a no. I think it would take some serious trust, and knowing that someone else could back it up before I'd let someone else ride my bike...

exactly gerg, my buddy that i let ride my bike backed it up with one of those limited yamahogs that cost like 30 grand, plus hes been riding with me for a good 15 years. no matter what i did on his bike he still wouldnt really get on it riding mine. but i did finally get him to pop a wheelie going down my block. he liked the ninja over the yamaha. haa haa ns [8D]

Around here, the general rule is you break it, you bought it! I don't ride anyone else's bike and the only other person that has ridden mine (actually he rode it before I bought it) is my dad. I completely trust my dad with my bike - cause I know he'll either repair it or replace it if something happened.
