This will be the first time in several years I have had to deal with traffic to go to work. For the past 3-4 years it was about 12-17 miles to work and I could take city streets all the way if I wanted to. Its going to be intresting to see what happens.

Well all I know is: @ $4.30 a gal for diesel, my truck is not going to move from my driveway unless its pouring don rain and I can't ride the bike. Its also a good thing I'm only a couple miles to work from my house. The down sideis being that close the diesel motor won't get 20 mpg until its hot, so around town short trips, my truck only gets around 10-12. The KLX gets 60 mpg, I guess its just a sign of the times, recessions are just like death and taxes, they are going to eventually happen, you just deal with it when it does. Habits change, new behaviors are formed, and that's not a bad thing. I think about all those folks in those $300,000 motor coaches that are only getting 6 mpg or less, and have a 100 - 200gal fuel tank. "um yea I'd like to take out a loan to fill up my motor home" Remember when the pumps used to stop at $50.00 on a credit charge, and it would almost fill up your truck? Then they had to up it to $75.00 for each card ran. I wonder what its up to now. From empty to full, right now would cost me...lets see 34 Gallons times $4.30 a gal...........$146.20!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ! Yea I'll walk before I do that.

Oh and if there was ever a question as to whether to buy the KLX 250 or the off road only bike 450, um that has been answered. When I first looked at the 250 the main reason I was interested in it was to save money on fuel. At that time diesel was $2.78 a gal, and at that cost the difference would make my bike payment. Now? at $4.30 a gal. I'm making money. Except the payment on my bike doubled because I'm past the 2 year lower interest plan, so I guess its a wash now.[:@] But on the plus side I have 13 payments left on the truck, and that's almost $400.00 a month that won't be going out. And if you remember, as soon as my last payment goes in, I'm going to run naked through the neighborhood. Oh sure it might be at 2:00 am but I'm still doing it. And then after that we will have about 6 payments left on the Camry, and that's another $375.00 not going out for payments. Now if I can only hang on till then, I'll be OK. You know we are always wishing we could slow down time, but I have to be honest, I wish the next year and a half would go by in a blink, I want to feel what its like to not have car payments, just once in my life. For the last 25 years I have had one and sometimes two car payments. Its over....never to be repeated again.[sm=icon_ladiesman.gif][sm=icon_rock.gif][sm=icon_rock.gif][sm=icon_rock.gif][sm=icon_rock.gif][sm=icon_rock.gif][sm=icon_rock.gif][sm=icon_rock.gif] Why did it take me this long to figure it out?[&:]

I'm about to feel the pinch too. I drive a diesel and its like 1.20 to 1.30 per liter here, and I get like 15L/100km driving in town (sorry for all the metric mumbojumbo).

I had a super high paying job, that even paid for my kilometers, which basically covers my gas costs and truck payements (if i had any) for a round trip to a site. I decided to leave as its not a family friendly job, and it destroyed my social life. I've also seen it destroy marriages too. Anyway I'm looking at jobs downtown Calgary here, and from my area since its newer, I don't see any bus routes that work out reasonably.

So I can do a 25km round trip in my truck downtown, and hope i can find parking for 35 bucks a day. Or take the bus/train for a couple hours.

Good times.

im going to buy a scooter and strap the kid on it. i just dropped 60 bucks of diesel in my truck at 4.39 a gallon, didnt even get a half tank.

Deej, they set the credit limit to 100.00 at the pump now, kind of sick being i could fill my truck up to the filler neck for around 70 bucks and now 100.00 wouldnt even get me close.

last week i rode to work, mobil was 4.09 for diesel, on my way home, it went to 4.39. some spots in hb are are allready at 4.77 and 4.85 a gal. and i have heard rumors of diesel to hit the 6.00 range.

**** this world, but what can we do. fuel is not a want its a need.

I speak metric-ish 15 L/100 km? Oh man, what are you driving? A tank?. BTW is that Canadian dollars per liter you're talking about? If so, itseems like your prices are on par with european ones.

i just paid 4.05 bucks per gallon at west sacramento, cali....it took like 18 bucks to fill me bike...omfg i remember when i first got it...i could go out on rides through 128 and 121 etc....in bereyessa area and gas was like 2-3 bucks...i thought that was outrageous but now because of 4 dollars a gallon plus.. i was out by the lake and the small towns where ghost towns and there where hardly any boats on the lake...

if you ask me....i really think what they are going to do next is lower the speed limit(which is really stupid because driving 65mph and 50 mph show the same amount of gasoline usage!!)...ohh yeah and because of these higher prices the state of california government is paying higher prices for fuel and not maintaining roads, and not maintaining education and other more important things....

i wonder when they will actually repave parts of i-80 i know ppl in southern california have to worry about the uneven pavement because of how hot during the summer it gets...but here there is like no economy and no budget to fix ****...look at vallejo it is going to go bankrupt next year or so...[]

Soon you will see people acting like crack heads trying to get gas. I feel bad for people who are going to have to leave their jobs because they can't afford to pay for the gas to get to work. It would suck working your self into debt. What would happen if they started to ration gas like back in the day. You could only get gas on certain days. There are people who have huge drives to get to and from work.
