and you cant just walk into a gun store and say ill take this one.
Um, that's what I did last week! I walked in, not intending on buying a gun, and walked out with one! All I needed was to show my drivers license.

Hmmm I didn't realize there were different laws for buying a gun, I mean if what you sayis true, what would stop a criminal from walking in and getting one? Here in Washington State, the only way you can "walk in" and buy a gun is if you have a CWP or CCW, and the only way you can even get the permit is to go to the police station and apply, wait for 7 days while they do an FBI background check. Then you can walk in a buy at some places. Some retailers are still not setup to hand a gun over the same day. I bought my Ruger 44 at Sportsment's Warehouse after I showed them my permit. I still had to fill out a 2 page sheet, and then they made a phone call to probably the FBI background updated data base to see if I still qualified since I purchased the permit. After all of that, I still couldn't just walk out of the store with the 44 and ammo, they actually walked me out to the parking lot and handed me the gun. So just walking into a gun shop and buying here in WA, well maybe sometimes, but there are still hoops to jump through. And IMO all states should do the same., But really there are enough guns out there that criminals will never need to worry about being legal. Oh and as far as thinking about what you want a gun for, that makes a lot of sense. I bought the 44 to carry (without the scope)in the woods while out riding or fishing or whatever, and I also wanted to start hunting and didn't want to have to buy two guns, so I just slap on the scope and head out for the hunt. Oh sure its more of a challenge hunting with a pistol, but then again I'm challenged anyway.[8D]

The gun shop still has to make you wait for the NICS criminal background check, which I passed!

So a felon isn't going to walk into a gun store, show a drivers license and walk out with a gun...unless they steal it. But that's not a good idea since most gun store owner are armed, as are their patrons!

FINE THEN. Buy a Glock. YOU WILL NOT DESTORY THESE FIREARMS! If you need me to actually post it, I will post you the torture tests they run on these pistols. And trust me, any petty **** you are going to throw at this gun will whimper in comparison to what these guys do on the torture test. Like throwing it out of a plane on a runway then firing a 15 round magazine without a hiccup.

go to a gun range that rents guns and start renting and shooting, if your shooting at a bear, a 22 wont do. check into your states laws as well, most states you cant just buy a gun and carry it, you need a ccw permit and you cant just walk into a gun store and say ill take this one. if your serious about getting a firearm, do some research. know your rights as well.
Are you serious? Is this a special rule with California? Here in Montana I can walk into any gun store and point at any pistol or rifle and go home with it that day.

Same here!!! Mmerdox, we must remember, MANY memeber of this forum are from COmmunist states where the inner city members of their states elect Liberals that steal their gun rights. You and I in Montana have the precious right to walk n and buy up to 2 handguns and 3 rifles a day, pay the money, run the background check, and walk out the store 10 minutes all guns in hand, and if a lawful ccw permit holder, with em loaded (the handguns) GAh, I love Tennessee!!!!!

THANK YOU CADDY! I figured deej would have been able to figure this out, since he has bought guns in his state.

lol, if I didn't know any better I would think that you were a Glock sales rep. The bottom line is whether it is Kimber, Sig, Beretta, or Ruger, and yes Glock they are all good guns. And if you take care of your gun it will take care of you, and you will be able to enjoy it your whole life. I look at guns the way I look at motorcycles. You have to get the one that suites your purposes the best. Take Deej for example he loves to ride the trails so it would be silly for him to buy the bike I have and excpect to still enjoy the trails. And since the trails are a little ways from me that is why I bought the bike I did.

When I buy my firearms I try to take everything into consideration. How accurate is it, how does it fit in my hand, is it balanced right, how reliable is it, is it easy to get replacement parts, and yes I even take looks into consideration. These are just a few of the things I think about when buying a firearm. And even though not everyone has the same goals and expectations when buying a firearm as I do each person has to come to there own understanding and get what they feel is best for them.

Persoanlly I am happy when I see people buying firearms and using the responcibly because it is people like that, that will fight for our rights to own guns. Well I am starting to ramble so hopefully some of this made sense
