Yeah the fatboy is the haunted Harley. I keep it as far away from my other bikes as possible. That bike get jealous about things.
The only reason I keep it is because it belonged to my best friend who is deceased. I have a lot of stories about that bike.
I rode it past a little lake where I spread Art's ashes about four years ago on the way to Marrietta Ohio. As soon as I got in front of the lake, the Fatboy died and would not start.
I called a friend and trailored it back to my house, and as soon as I unloaded it, I hit the starter and it fired right up, and has always started since then.
One time it died just in time to keep me from getting hit by a concrete truck that didnt see a stop sign. I swear if that bike had kept running, I would have either been squashed like a bug, or would have had a horrifying near miss.
The bike just falls over for no reason, especially if there is another bike parked next to it. But when it falls over, it never does any damage, the bike does not have a scratch on it.
The odometer quit working with exactly 13 thousand miles on it and has never worked since. The speedo still works.
It will try to fall over on people it doesnt like. I had some guys hanging out in the garage one day, and one of them really didn't like Artie, (the previous owner and my best friend). The guy was standing beside the Fatboy and said something like, it's a wonder ole Artie could even ride a bike like that without killing himself, or something like that. So then the fatboy falls over and pins his right leg, and damn near breaks his ankle. And nobody was touching that bike. Of course it did not put a scratch on the bike.
I have replaced the kick stand and it still falls over at times.
On occasion I will go to the pole barn to get something, and the horn will blow and scare the chit out of me. It never does that any other time, at least that I know about.
I know you guys think I'm crazy, but this bike is either haunted, or full of so many coincidences it is not even funny.

Maybe your buddy is keeping an eye on you man. And when it stopped at the lake he was just needing a visit from an old friend. Think of it that way. Oh and the guy talking smack ...he was just putting his boot where the sun doesn't shine....I'd say Amen brother! If it kept me from getting killed it could rub off on all my bikes!
