hmm, ya lost me. Are you trying out for a Back To The Future movies or something?? or the 50's theme of shooting flames out the tail pipes? or the question is actually pertaining to jetting and proper adjustments with a full exhaust install?

ok, answer to yourself on how you want your bike to run. You probably know by now, that by converting to a 2-1 system will reduce your low end power, cause a jetting issue and hopefully/should increase your top end power when jetted correctly. With some cam timing, ignition adjustments this may prove to be a good decision. Every engine has its SWEET SPOT, so each system needs to be fine tuned to prevent the possible lean conditions that lead to the popping/back fire conditions. For everyday useage? I am liking my stock dual exhaust on mine. I have not tore down this engine yet nor have had the inclination to make this a power house if that was possible. lol Concentrate on brakes, clean fluids, tires and suspension for this ride over any exhaust changes.

Shooting flames out the back looks cool, but is an easy indication of something wrong with your system and in the long run could cause damage to the bike. Swapping the exhaust can give you a different note and change the way the bike reacts, but requires further fine tuning throughout the engine to account for the added flow and make use of the advantages of the system. As Drag said, concentrate on the basics and the rest will come. I'm not sure if there are any decent flamethrower mods for the 500 that I would consider safe. If you do try it, make sure you have spare parts around just in case. Experimental modding is just like stunting, you never do it with anything you cant afford to lose.

Ohhh, ummm.... PICS!
