Default EDIT* New bike EDIT*

Well tomorrow the wife and I are driving from Forks to Portland (10 hour round trip)to look at a bike. She finally decided not to fight it anymore and so she gave in and if all goes well, this will be sitting in my garage soon. Its a 2000 BMW R1150 GS Then I'll have to join a BMW forum and that will probably pull me away from here at times, but don't worry, I'll still count this as my first home.

its a great touring bike.
Then again my idea of the perfect touring bike is a ZX14 with hard bags lol.

Ok the night before I went down I decided to talk to some folks, including my Cousin who owns a BMW. Since the nearest BMW shop is like 4 hours away, and the fact that every part on the bike is a million dollars, it made sense to go with a Honda. I have a dealership an hour away, and the aftermarket for this bike is tremendous. So I went down to Portland and rode the GS, and while it was ok, it felt clunky to me. I decided to ride a used Honda ST 1300. The difference is like the difference between a prime rib and stew meat. The throttle response was 5 times as quick. Also a couple more pluses, the Honda is a 2005 so its 5 years newer than the GS and it only has 18,000 miles as compared to 60,000 on the GS. So long story short, I came home with the Honda. I love the electric window!

So 500 miles down and back, and 10 hrs of driving, I pulled up at the shop last night and unloaded it on the loading dock at work.

And bonus when I got home and looked into the side cases, I found that it had the soft bags which are nearly $100.00, and the shop manual!

I rode it out to the DMV, and I have to say, wow! The power on a bike like this is amazing. I'll never get to use 3rd gear around town. And the best feature is the electric windshield! Highway speeds all you do is hit the button and the thing raises up like 10 inches, and the wind just disappears.

"The power on a bike like this is amazing" your funny DEEJ.....whats amazing is just the difference in the two bikes you have. 1300cc vs 250cc
A friend of mine always forgets and says the same thing when he goes from his dirt bike to his 12r.
