I have recently developed an interest in airbrushing and I'd just love to have an incredibly unique helmet. To this end I was wondering if anyone knew of a place, whether it be a shop or an internet site that sells helmets that have been primered or even just built, with no paint or clear coat. Because I would much rather not sand down a good paint job on a brand new helmet.

Or also, if anyone knows of a trustworthy place to buy used helmets, if nothing else just to practice on.

 

Used helmets are trashed usally. Just buy one of the cheap helmets at pepboys to practice on. I want to do one of mine too but to pay a shop is like 300.00 and thats just to start. Lucky you got skills.

 

yeah the price of those things outrageous, and the ones from HJC and Shoei cost 10% of what my bike cost!

In regards to my skills...all I have painted so far is a single color on two 1:32 model cars, so I've a bit left to hone before I'll try.

Yea pepboys sells scooters so helmets too. Got you on the skills I am fixing some fiberglass body work and want to paint them to. Your still ahead of me. I thought about approaching the local HS and checking with the auto body department to see if they want to take on a project and receive a donation.
