Do not get me wrong....visiting our next pet rock may prove beneficial. But maybe instead of the billions on a pet rock visit, work towards and have the efforts placed towards making solar power panels, or less money for the wind turbines to the masses would prove more prudent. Cool photos, kinda like spending $100k in fireworks for one sitting. Not the best bang for the buck is what I was referring too.

Lots of practical tech has come from the space program. Solar panels, for example.

You have a point Drag! If we dont work on saving our environment, we will be living on the pet rock.

FM, how close were you in 06? Those are AWESOME pictures.
I saw on go off from Daytona, daylight launch in, I'ma gonna hasta guess, probally 98' ?

I think the benefits of space exploration have helped technology so much in this country. The "trickle down" effect from NASA has done so much good.

I guess though in the days of $500 BILLION deficets, and our energy situation what it is, everything is open to question.
Am I the only one that sometimes wonder, If NASA can make a battery that will can last on a trip to Mars for months and months and months and send video signals back, why my Frikin cell phone battery cant last 1 freakin day ???

HAHAHA lmfao.. ya.. we've PERFECTED the "art" of killing from long distance.. missles that fly 6 feet off the ground, fly 600mph and hit a target within 3-10 feet, but we can't make paint that won't peel or a screw that won't strip!!

FM.. THOSE ARE BADASS pics bro. .thanks for sharing! thats gotta be THE most intense thing being close to that thing when it takes off.. lol.. wow.. i never realized that it got so damn hot exiting the atmosphere as well.. guess it would, huh.. lol.. no wonder the devolopment that went into exotic metals.. bet it's blindingly bright in that thing after a few minutes of ascent.
