I remember when the first Cassette player came out, it replaced the detachable 8 track player in out 66 mustang. About 8 years ago my grandma gave me a home 8 track player and a box of tapes, I was listening to it in the garage, but I had to make more room for bikes, so into the dumpster it went. . Besides most of the tapes were starting to break. All the music was old country, like Charlie Pride, Chet Atkins, and Les Paul.......I should have kept the les paul. One of the tapes was an 8 track of.....well it had this song, that was probably a collectors item too, but I was tired of collecting it. Just though I would share, and now I, as I often do, have shared too much.

Artist/Band: Flatt And Scruggs
Lyrics for Song: Ballad of Jed Clampett
Lyrics for Album: Hard Travelin'/Final Fling
Come and listen to a story 'bout a man named Jed
Poor mountaineer barely kept his family fed
Then one day he was shooting for some food,
And up through the ground come a bubbling crude
(Oil that is, black gold, Texas tea)

Well the first thing you know old Jed's a millionaire
Kin folk said Jed move away from there
Said California is the place you oughta be
So they loaded up the truck and they moved to Beverly
(Hills that is, swimming pools, movie stars)

Well now it's time to say goodbye to Jed and all his kin
They would like to thank you folks for kindly dropping in
You're all invited back again to this locality
To have a heaping helping of their hospitality
(Beverly Hillbillies, that's what they call 'em now,
Nice folks Y'all come back now, ya hear?)

Now don't pretend like you're not whisteling or humming the song right now, don't deny
