Default Bad Day

Yesterday just turned out to be a horrible day for me. We decided to go for a ride last night, and it was actually day light when we went out. So we went out, and this was really my first outing with the guys, and an actual ride. Everything was going fine, until it started to get a little dark, and a little cold, and WINDY! Now...I am afraid of bridges as it is, even on a car. The guys say that they want to go over the bridge to go to Hooters. I didn't feel too comfortable about this, I was already getting blown all over the place on the road. They told me, you'll be fine...it'll make you a better rider. So I say fine...went over the bridge going like 50, the speed limit was 60. :-) Then this gust of wind comes and pushes me over into the other lane, and the car in that lane just about hit me. So there's no. 1 problem. After getting to Hooters, and cleaning the [sm=smiley35.gif] out my pants.[sm=yikesomg.gif] (not really) We go about our business, and then it's time to go, have to go back over the bridge. So I decided I'm going to go faster and get it done and over with quicker. That worked. So I get home, and I just lowered my bike an inch and a quarter, well I'm waiting on my new kickstand to come in, so little to say my bike sit straight up, and you have to be careful getting off it. Well I thought my bike was fine and I went to get off, well the kickstand wasn't sturdy enough for me to get off yet, and I DROPPED MY BIKE!![sm=headbang.gif] Bent the brake lever, and put a few scratches on the side. I'm so upset!

Sorry to hear of the bad day

Wind is one of the big intimidators on a ride. I remember giving a girl a ride a few years back. the wind was so bad that the bike was leaning sideways. She never rode with me again[:@]

And, I have to say I have dropped the bike a few times. Not this one but some of my other ones. Very irritating.

It will be ok though[sm=itsok.gif]

Sorry to hear it happened like that. I tipped mine over right after I bought it. Just added a few battle scars to her; it's all good. Better to get it out of the way early, lol. Good luck with overcoming the wind. I opted not to ride today: 35 MPH wind gusts, too rich for my blood.

Hey, don't feel too bad. I dropped my by an hour after I got it, in our carport attempting to turn around in 1st gear, only to find out that I was actually in 4th gear. I scratched her up, but bent my pride. I waited a few hours then got back out there. I forgot to use the kickstand once and slowly teetered over like an idiot. I know things happen, but man, I bent the foot brake, cracked the license plate holder, scuffed the ferring and broke the turn signal lens cover. Once my husband lowered it a bit, that was a lot better. I was more upset about the bike though to be honest. I'm only 5'1" (barely), so you can imagine my plight with height. I am going to conquer this bike though! Take it easy and keep the rubber on the road!

Sounds like a crappy day, at least you didn't get hurt. I'm not looking forward to having days like that, I know that I will. [&:]

Thanx guys! I was so upset about dropping the bike, it was my first time out, and I was so happy that I didn't wreck or anything, then I get home and do something stupid like that. I knew I would end up dropping it, but sh*t, I thought it'd be something good, like going down or something. LoL I'm over it, now. Little to say my bike is on the stand waiting for the kick stand to come in[&o]

On a side note.. what did I tell you about riding above your limits?? You lets these guys push you into a situation that you were not comfortable with..IMO that is not a friend.. and wouldnt ride with them again.. look what ALMOST happened..

I don't want to sound like a preacher.. but you are a great (nice looking)person and are still learning.. I dont wanna hear from someone alse that you have had a nasty spill and let them get into details about it... don't let anyone push you to do what you don't wanna do [:@]

Yes...daddy!

Calm down there sparky....I won't let the guys push me too far, but it had to be done, b/c it's not always going to be perfect weather out, so I had to do it some time...right?! I know when to stop....(50MPH over a 65MPH bridge) Trust me...I know when I'm too scared. Like I said I had to it some time. Don't worry about me.. the only things that will get messed up in my knuckles....aww geeeze, I've got nice hands too. LOL Guess I should wear my gloves, huh dad?![sm=yeahsmile.gif]

As I read Ian's post I thought the same thing - sounded exactly like my dad! But over the years as I get older, I realize that what comes out of my dad's mouth isn't just "hot air and some noise" (trust me, I used to see it like that ), what he says makes sense. I agree with Ian and crash on this one. I'm already being bugged by a group to go out for a ride with them, I've told them that I'd have to wait and see how comfortable I am with riding before I decide to go with them (keep in mind that this is a huge group of girls). Anyway they tell me I'll be fine blah, blah, blah, but I'm sticking to my gut feelings and I won't go until I feel ready. I'll just cruise around with my dad for a while first. Safety first.
