Yup, I know what you mean.....

I actually met a guy about a week ago, that had a unit similar. He had his in his shirt pocket, and a little clear tube that ran from the unit to a spot somehwere around his stomach. It almost looked like a pager, and I would not have clicked as to what it was, unless talking to you about it. He said it was the best move he ever made.

froggy, i finally get the chance to tell. well, its been hooked up for 2 days now and i guess while me and my dr. get it dialed in im going to feel like crap because so far, ive felt like crap ! but it should get better.

how it works.. you test your blood glucose level, see what your sugars are running. punch in the bg amount into the pump. punch in the amount of carbs you are going to eat then push the button and bamm. get your grub on. theres alot more to it then that but thats the general idea.

here it is wired up.

What’s the maintenance on the tube where it enters your body? What about the water, no pump I am sure but what about the possibility of infection at the entry point?

Still has to be better than the shot, I would not know for sure but I remember a family member who spoke ill of it. The shot that is.

the tube and the insertion site and the insulin resivior get changed out every 3 days. of course theres a risk of an infection in anything like this but the key is to prep the area and keep it clean. usually people that are prone to infections in little things like scrapes and scratches will be more likley to get infected from the insertion site. (knock on wood) so far i havent had any infections in anything.

the part of the tube that is stuck to my stomach is called a quick disconnect. you just squeez the locking clips, turn it and your not hooked to anything, then you place a cap on it that seals it up from water and dirt.

best thing is you cant feel any of it.
