Another '86 ranger pu V8 conversion
ok, my first conversion was on my '87 2wd. Worked out great except for winter time. Now on to a 4x4 that I have. A new experience but I am looking forward to the process.
Looking at an H.O. 302 from a mustang to power this ride. I have thoughts on the drive train, But, if anyone has ideas, let me know.

The Coyote was really on my list. But, the width is like the 351 is. pretty frickin wide. My '87 only has 1/8" clearance between the heads and the steering linkage as it is using the '76 assembly. I had to chain down the engine to keep it from going through the hood because I messed up and used damper motor mounts.

The AFR 1404 heads are in route, E-cam, comp cams moly 1.7 RR's. I did buy another dual sump oil pan and pickup tube. I am planning on the 1987 ranger for another build (looking for a street worthy 400hp 25mpg daily driver this time around). The 1986 4x4 can be later, but at least there will be some parts on the shelf. The '90 H.O is here as well. A host '92 explorer is on site for donating seats, panels, drive train for both rangers. The host 4.0l and trans will be sold outright. Same as the 2.9l setup from the '86 ranger.

This was my truck. I got bored of it and traded it for another truck, which I sold to finance some of my motorcycle purchases:

hmmm, some mental updates/planning with most of the goods on the shelves
The '86 4x4 is getting the '90 h.o, the c4 trans, atlas transfer case to run with the explorer running gear.
The '87 2x4 will get the crate 11.3cr short block, AFR heads, AOD 700hp 2600 stall, and GV over/under with the 9" rear and disk brakes! the twin turbo's are still sitting on the shelf of course with that cr scenario.
Sometimes a hobby can get abit pricey and time consuming.

hmm, still working things out.
The wifes car needed new struts, battery, tires, brakes and such. The 76 high boy has a couple of leaks and need tended to. The Excursion needed some love, so first things first. The rangers are on the hind tit, but still in progress.

Well, that's a long time for an update with not much meat! First thing's first as they say. My F150 just had new calipers, brakes, some other front-end parts and a new computer. There went a paycheck!
And the GF that you helped me out with on furnace venting got a new furnace AND central A/C this summer.
