Default 10 year old mystery finally solved....BY ME!!!

Ok I suppose this will seem stupid to some of you, but about 10 years ago, I was walking behind the water tanks on the property where I work, and I discovered a couple of disks. I sent them to the University of Washington and they sent them back without knowing what they were. Well this morning was talking to one of our GIS (Geographic Information System) Specialists on instant messaging and while he was out here a month ago, he discovered a rock about 4 ft in diameter that might actually be a meteorite. He is quite the expert on Geology and whatnot, so I thought he might know what I had found.

Well that got me to remember these disks that I found and I sent him a couple of pictures and he wasn't sure, and before he could even come up with an idea, I googled "whale Vertebra" and it came up with exactly what I had found.

Here are the original pictures from 10 years ago.

This is what I googled this morning. This site is dedicated to reproducing vertebrae replicas.

The disks are actually like the disks that we have between our vertebra.

So there you have it, I'm not only the Maintenance Mechanic here at the Center, but now I can add Scientist as well. But I suppose I won't get any more money for the discovery, in fact they will probably ask me what I was doing out in the woods in the first place.

haha I went on a mine tour and the guy was talking about fossils and he said "Well out in arizona, people find fossils so often they just sit them in there yard. Like if you go to West Virginia you will find a washing machine and a broke down chevy in the yard."
