At the risk of sounding absolutley ridiculous, what purpose does the third light serve? (the "dot on the forehead" of the front assembly.

anybody? You know the light i'm speaking of, the small one centered and above the two headlights....just wondering its purpose.

 

No clue. I know the newer cbrs have them. I think its just for visability so that cars see that little extra light and notice the bike.

 

my new zx6r has a third light, it accents the classyiness...lol it's just a kawi thang

 

Hardly a Kawi thing. The early 90's GSXRs had those, then the 900RR, and eventually Kawi started doing it - now that no one else really does anymore.

 

did those things even work or were they just light lenses ?

 

mine doesnt work. think the bulb is blown. but it doesn't really provide any worthwhile light. i guess its just a cosmetic whoopdeedoo. I like it anyhow

To promote my endless urge to promote knowledge also to obtain a positive reputation mongst us ZX9R's...
through numerous hours of late night web browsing, my memory leads me to believe the third light is a European feature, which has carried over into the U.S. models. To be exact it was prominent with 94-97 models and ended sometime after only to return if my memory serves me correct.
