when my motor is off my oil window is full on my 1985 ninja zx 9r and when the motor is on the window is empty is this normal or do in need oil or a oil change

 

When the engine is off, and the bike is perpendicular to the ground, the sight glass is half way up the window. No more and no less. If you are reading a full sight glass while the bike is on the side stand, then you have too much oil in your ride and it will cause issues.

Check your oil fill amount, Dragone is right. DO NOT put in 4 quarts if it calls for 3.5 LITERS (with filter change.)
