yea there great bikes. mines a 92 also. but for that amount of miles, the drive to get it, and the price. i might keep looking, but thats just me. as for comfort, its 10 times more comfortable than my buddy;s new gsxr 600. and its so easy to work on if you have a repai manuel. i don't know about anyone elses 92 ZX7's but mine has 30000 miles on it and it fires right up. it also carves the hell out of the turns.

ZX7's are well-sorted bikes; they've certainly made their mark in AMA racing. By today's standards, they're a little on the porky side, but so is my old 9-R (and I love that bike.) 7's when properly set-up are like riding on rails. Incapable hands, they can give newer bikes a challenge. Frankly, I'd love to have an old 7 in good shape like the one in the picture.
Is 2800 a little high? Maybe, but it doesn't look like this bike has been abused. That is a lot of miles, though.
Check the steering stops; make sure they aren't banged-off from a wreck. It's been lowered?? Take a good look at the work, make sure it's been done properly. This can have a horrible effect on handling, and potentially tells me it's been to the dragstrip a few times. Pull the seats off; make sure the rear sub hasn't been hacked at or is bent. Look at the wiring for re-do work. If it's had hot-rod crap stuck on it, the wires will tell a story. Been repainted? Original plastic? (It's getting harder to find.) Polished frame is nice. Straight wheels? Check the sprockets, look at the chain. Take a pocket mm ruler with you and check the fork measurements on both sides of the triple. Make sure stuff is "square" where it ought to be. Take a towelette with you and wipe under the engine case. Any leaks? If you want to see what's under the plastic, ASK! Don't accept his version of how wonderful the bike is. I know it's a used bike; not the Pebble Beach Concours, but it's YOUR money. If you buy this bike, it will also be your LIFE. Is this the right bike? Ride before you buy.
Finally, pick the guy's brain. Ask if you have questions. Did he keep a notebook on the bike? Receipts? (I have every receipt from every nut and bolt.) Look at his shop or garage. How long did he have the bike? Why is he selling it? Would you buy anything else from this guy? Only newbies accept a bike sales pitch at face value. Don't insult him, but let him know you want to see what you're buying.
ZX7's are solid, reliablebikes. That's about all the adviceI can give you.

just to help more here her email of all mods ETC ----My loss is your gain.. This is a 1992 Kawasaki ZX-7R. This bike has custom paint with metal flake, polished frame and wheel lips, custom green kerker windscreen, new front and rear brakes, new battery, Muzzy pipe, flush mount turn signals, new front forks, extra sprocket, extra turn signals, new spark plugs, a recent oil change, and has been lowered 4 inches. The tires have about 50% tread life left. The frame has 65,000 original miles on it.. but the motor was rebuilt about 15,00 miles ago. This bike runs strong, and is mechanically sound. It would make a great starter bike or one to be customized even further. I am a female and do not hesitate to go anywhere on this bike.. it's a definite head turner! You must see it to appreciate i

Sorry for my incorrect gender assumption on thecurrent owner. (But I'm going toassume again..) This may also explain why it was lowered?
I wouldn't immediately jump on the 2500 bandwagon; you still haven't seen or ridden the bike. If you want this bike, I would drive to NC. Do your homework when you're there. You have "another ZX7" you're looking at, but with higher mileage for less money. You really like her bike and would prefer to take it home. Would she take less? (Cash works real well at this point in the conversation.) Any other goodies in the deal? (i.e. anything you can sell or trade to offset the cost?)
The bike environment requires you to be on your toes and do your homework. If you plan to re-sell this bike like some guys do (keep a bike for a year or two, then trade-up), dothe math and check KBB andother bike seller valuation sites.
Good luck! Let us know how it comes out!

Pictures are kinda tiny, but it looks pretty sweet. If she's straight-up, and the bike is tight, don't be ashamed to pay what she's asking if you like the bike. It's an emotional purchase; not a rational one. We just don't like to admit it.
